Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League is now a huge 16 points – with a game in hand.
It is margin that is almost unheard, especially after just 22 matches of the campaign. This term, they have been by far the best team in the country, and they showed that once again versus Manchester United on Sunday. The Red Devils had their moments, managing four shots on target and 47% possession, but in the end the Anfield outfit had too much for their opponents, as has so often been the case. The 2-0 scoreline was enough to get them all three points.

On this occasion, almost every player on the pitch put in a fantastic display. Surpisingly though, the only player who was unable to hit his usual standards was Sadio Mane, the African Player of the Year. The Senegal international has been in fantastic form so far this term, picking up 15 goals and 11 assists in 30 matches in all competitions, but he was unable to get hit those heights this time around.
For a start, his SofaScore rating of just 6.4 was easily the worst amongst all of his teammates, and there were plenty more aspects in which he struggled. Of the four attempts at goal he had, he managed to hit the target on just one occasion, whilst he also completed just one of the four dribbles he attempted. He did manage two key passes, but won a very disappointing three out of 12 ground duels which he contested, whilst only the two Liverpool full-backs lost the ball on more occasions than his 19.
Of course, the 27-year-old is allowed to have a bad day considering all of the fantastic performances he has put in, but it is not the first time has struggled to perform against the Red Devils. In nine matches against the Old Trafford outfit, he has just one goal and one assist. The pressure of the occasion has got to him in the past.
