Lots of Everton supporters have taken to social media to slam the efforts of Jordan Pickford during the Toffees’ defeat at home to Sheffield United.
The England number one goalkeeper conceded twice at home to the Blades on Saturday, with the first effort to hit the Blues’ net coming five minutes before half-time when Pickford rushed off his line to meet a corner only to miss the ball.
Though Pickford claimed he was pushed in the incident, the Video Assistant Referee did not support his calls, and allowed the goal to stand after the ball struck off Yerry Mina and into the empty net.
Blades forward Lys Mousset later put the visitors two goals to the good with only Chris Wilder’s side’s second shot of the game, and first on target (WhoScored), when he calmly rolled the ball under £100,000-a-week (Spotrac) Pickford.
Marco Silva’s first-choice shot-stopper has now conceded nine Premier League goals in four games, having kept two clean sheets during the first six rounds of fixtures.
As Pickford did not record a save from the two shots faced against Sheffield United, the 25-year-old’s record remains at 18 saves for the season. The Sunderland product also failed to record any collections or parries against Sheffield United.
