According to CalcioMercato, three Premier League clubs are interested in signing Newcastle United forward Aleksander Mitrovic at the end of the season.
What’s the story?
Mitrovic has a contract with Newcastle until the summer of 2020, but it is widely thought that the striker will leave the Magpies at the end of this season.
The Serbian, who is valued at £7.2m by transfermarkt.co.uk, moved to Fulham on loan during the January transfer window, and has struck 10 goals in 14 Championship appearances for the Cottagers.
According to CalcioMercato, West Ham United, Burnley and Crystal Palace are all closely monitoring developments surrounding the centre-forward as Newcastle prepare to sell in this summer’s transfer window.
It is certainly not a surprise that a number of clubs are interested in the 23-year-old, and it will be very interesting to see what stance Newcastle take at the end of the season.
Should Newcastle keep Mitrovic?
It seems a long time ago now, but it is certainly worth remembering that Mitrovic scored nine Premier League goals during his first season at Newcastle back in 2015-16.

There was a lot of excitement surrounding the powerful striker at that point, but he only managed four Championship goals last season, and struck just once in the Premier League in the first half of this term.
Mitrovic did not really get a fair crack of the whip in the first half of the 2017-18 campaign, however, and he has proved at Fulham – albeit in the Championship – that he knows how to find the back of the net on a regular basis.
He has also managed 13 goals in 35 appearances for Serbia, which is a solid record at that level of football.
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez seems to have made his mind up on Mitrovic, but the Spaniard should certainly consider a rethink as there is no question that the former Anderlecht goal machine could still be a superstar at St James’ Park.
