Manchester United have officially signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon on a five-and-a-half-year contract with an option to extend it for a further year.

The deal reportedly cost the Red Devils an initial sum of £46.6m but that figure could very well rise if certain add-ons are met during the player’s stay at Old Trafford.
Needless to say, the midfielder’s stats speak for themselves.
With 63 goals and 52 assists in a total of 137 games for his former club the 25-year-old star arrives with a certain pedigree and reputation.
And interestingly enough, the former United boss Jose Mourinho heaped praise on the Red Devils’ new man in the summer of 2019 when he hailed his compatriot’s outstanding quality.

Here’s what he said for Eleven Sports, as quoted by The Mirror:
“I was surprised by the season of Bruno Fernandes. It was easy to predict quality, he is a very good player, but scored a very high number of goals for a midfield player.
“It shows that you need to have instinct and qualities to score and he has it all. He strikes the ball well, heads well, cool when he is one-on-one with the goalkeeper. He finds space in the penalty area. It’s all there.”
If the Special One’s words are anything to go by, and usually they are, United have landed a true star this January and it will be interesting to see how he can improve Solskjaer’s squad in the not so distant future.
But judging by the stats and all the endorsement, he should do just fine.
