Kenny Dalglish has blamed his team, rather than the referee, for Liverpool’s 4-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday at White Hart Lane.
Goals from Luka Modric, Jermain Defoe and an Emmanuel Adebayor brace gave the home side an easy victory, but The Reds had Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel sent off.
Dalglish claimed that his side were being unfairly treated by officials after last week’s defeat to Stoke, and met with referee chief Mike Riley in midweek to discuss his grievances.
Despite the two red cards in the defeat on Sunday, the Scot has decided not to comment on the dismissals and instead focus on his team’s performance.
“This football club expects more than that. Luka Modric scores a great goal and it was the start of our downfall,” he told The Daily Mail.
“Despite the other incidents, which are best unanswered, we will look at ourselves and what happened at the start of the game. We will stick to what we can dictate.
“We cannot dictate interpretation. We have a very good record for discipline. We will look at the video and if there is something wrong, we can correct it,” he concluded.
Liverpool are now eight points off the pace, and take on Brighton in the League Cup on Wednesday, before hosting Wolves in the league next weekend.
